Nice weather days in Brooklyn are best enjoyed in a park. And McCarren Park is one of the best places for people-watching in the area. You’ll find this green hotspot at the Northern end of Bedford Avenue, where Williamsburg borders Greenpoint. At the first sign of warm weather, the lawn fills up with young folks flaunting their American Apparel style, bikini, chihuahua, or vintage bike. Bring a picnic lunch or check out the action on the playing fields where local leagues face-off in soccer, ultimate frisbee, and kickball. Another fun spectator sport can be found at the park’s dog run, where yard-deprived dogs (and their owners) can run, mingle, and flirt. Don’t miss the regular farmer’s markets on weekends and the frequent festivals and craft fairs in the summer. Shop for your picnic at the nearby specialty food market and cafe, Urban Rustic.
